Marie Avetria serves as the Deputy Director of Grant Writing at Roosevelt Forward. Marie has nearly 15 years of experience in development, and previously served as Senior Grant Writer for America Achieves, Executive Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships for New Leaders, and as a grantwriting consultant with several nonprofit organizations. She began her career supporting the national expansion team for an afterschool education nonprofit in Boston, and later taught sixth grade in Oakland, California. She holds a BA in English literature from Brown University and an MFA in fiction writing from Brooklyn College.
