As chief people & equity officer, Lisa DeRoché provides strategic direction for human resources at Roosevelt, and works to strengthen and advance HR systems and processes, while building organizational culture and talent practices that ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion are infused within all programs across the entire institute.
Lisa was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised on Long Island. She has been leading human resources projects and teams across various industries for over 20 years, including in financial services, health care, child welfare, and education. Lisa is also the chair of the Board of Girls Inc. of Long Island, and she is consistently called upon to lead organizational change via policy and procedure overhauls, developing culture-focused performance management priorities, and data-driven strategic initiatives that weave diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellness initiatives throughout the agenda.
Lisa has created and led committees that support the spiritual, financial, and emotional health of employees. She managed a 40-person internship program for several years, chaired Employee Resource Groups, and participated in and led Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Councils. She is the chair of the SHRM NYC Chapter Mentoring Program and was a past member of the Berkeley College of New Jersey’s MBA Advisory Committee. Lisa has a BA in sociology from SUNY Old Westbury, an MBA from Dowling College, and a PhD from Capella University in business management with a specialization in human resources. She is also the author of a published dissertation entitled Fostering Intrapreneurship Behaviors into Leader Development in Corporations, and an autobiography, The Grave in My Soul.
