Becky Wasserman is the Director of Government Relations at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), representing 2 million members who are social workers, nurses, state workers, security officers, college professors, home care workers, janitors, and more. Becky has been designing advocacy strategy and developing issue campaigns for over 20 years. Becky is currently a member of the board of the State Innovation Exchange Action (SiX Action), Local Progress, and Community Change.
Prior to joining SEIU, she was Director of Campaigns and Organizing for American Jewish World Service (AJWS), where she launched a new organizing department. Before AJWS, Becky worked on Middle East peace efforts at J Street, coordinated a multi-year campaign for national labor law reform at American Rights at Work (ARAW), and was President of the United States Student Association (USSA). Becky has been trained by the Rockwood Leadership program, Wellstone Action, and the Midwest Academy. Originally from Swampscott, MA, she is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently, Becky lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
