As Managing Director of Roosevelt Institute’s think tank, Debarati Ghosh ensures that research priorities strategically support our mission. Working with the Institute’s Fellows and teams, Debarati also manages critical processes and projects to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the think tank.

Debarati came to the Institute from her position as Editor/Publications Manager at Columbia University for Joseph E. Stiglitz. She developed content for and managed all of Prof. Stiglitz’s writings and presentations with a team of researchers and editors. This included the books Globalization and Its Discontents Revisited and The Euro; over 100 articles and OpEds for major media outlets; and some 70 academic papers in top journals. She developed presentations and preparation for Prof. Stiglitz’s prominent speaking engagements as well as participated in events, both domestically in Washington, D.C. and New York City and internationally in Kenya, India, Austria, and Germany. Prior to this, she was with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). As Managing Editor she was the head of two major publications, Country Commerce and Country Finance, and worked with a team of some 30 in-country correspondents and editors which she built and managed.

Debarati holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University, and a B.A. in Sociology from Drew University.
